The North Carolina City Council explodes in boos while the congressman escorted the building, angry constituents

Republican congressman Chuck Edwards, RN.C., faced the constituents angry during a City Council meeting on Thursday night on the cuts of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk throughout the government.

“How do you justify the cuts to the VA personnel who help veterans, especially those with long -term care needs,” asked a constituent who found an ovation of the strident crowd in Asheville, North Carolina.

“Then, first of all, there have been no cuts for the staff of this point. Like him or not, Elon Musk has brought many really intelligent people, ”Edwards replied while finding a round of boos. Earlier this month, an internal VA memorandum indicated that the agency was preparing to fire 80,000 of its workforce.

The interaction became so controversial and hostile that Edwards had to be escorted from the building.

“You can’t do this to us,” another constituent shouted.

Republican leadership has told its members to avoid municipalities in person like these after several members were roasted in their national districts.

Edwards, however, went against his council on Thursday.

“” You see many tips in Washington, DC of different people who say: “Republicans should not be there outside municipalities”, and I am thinking ‘Why not?’ I love people, ”said Edwards.

The Trump administration is moving forward with radical cuts with thousands of workers who have already been fired throughout the federal workforce, including veteran issues, IRS and the Department of Education.

Elon Musk separated from the White House this week, suggesting that law programs such as Medicare and Social Security could be in the cutting block below.

“Waste and fraud in law spending, which is all who is the majority of federal expenditure is the right, so it is like the big one to eliminate,” Musk said earlier this week.

Those words have left some very worried voters, with Edwards taking the end of the attacks on Thursday night.

“What are you doing to guarantee the protection of our social security benefits,” he asked about the constituent to a round of applause?

He responded to Edwards: “I will not vote to dissolve his social security. I am not looking to interrupt Social Security at all. “
