The annual joint exercises of the South Korea, which are known as “Freedom Shield”, were scheduled to begin on Monday and run until March 21, according to the United States Army.
The training together with the South Korean soldiers will include urban combat, field hospital operations, field artillery exercises, air assault training and aerial defenses, said the army in A statement Mondays. The North Korean Foreign Ministry described the planned exercises as “aggressive”, and officials tell the state media on Sunday that “the exercise of random strength of the United States will result in an aggravated security crisis.”
“This is a dangerous provocative act of leading the acute situation in the Korean Peninsula, which can trigger a physical conflict between the two parts by means of a single accidental shot, to the extreme point,” the ministry said in a statement to the new Central Korean agency on Sunday.
